ShaTranj Bushcraft combines the knowledge gained through years of study in the fields of wildlife and livestock management, veld management and Ecology, rehabilitation, hunting and other extra murial activities; with the passion and experience that the owners, Johan & Marcia de Bruto, have gained over time.
This experience and knowledge are transferred to all our students at Shatranj.
Students are taught basic survival skills such as tracking, hunting & gathering edibles, firestarting, food preparation, the sourcing of water, shelter building and other usefull outdoors skills.
Added to this, students that show an interest are also taught horsemanship and riding skills, as well as mounted and foot combat skills, including the use of traditional weapons.
We believe in the preparation of the individual to be able to stand up for him or herself, as a warrior, a provider and a survivor.
Our bushcraft training touch on various topics such as:

survival etc.
Students can come for regular classes, or they can join in overnight adventures where they have to fend for themselves, although always under trained supervision.
