ShaTranj breeds, trains and works with Dogo Argentinos, the legendary hunting breed from Argentina.

Our Dogos are active in anti poaching, wildlife rehabilitation, search and rescue, security, guarding and hunting scenarios.

We follow a very carefully planned breeding program. Potential breeding stock are evaluated until they are two years old before the decision to breed with them is finalised.

During that period growth, health, temperament, work drive, nose (tracking ability/desire) and many other traits are evaluated. Only if our young prospect passes all these criteria, will he/she enter the breeding program.

As was the vision of their creator, dr. Antonio Nores Martinez, our Dogos are selected for work and stable temperament. Although they may perform equally well in a showring, that is not where we are aiming for them to be.

From time to time pups may become available to preapproved homes. An application needs to be filled in; a home and background check will be conducted and if successfull, your name will be placed on the waiting list.

We do not breed with the intent of selling pups, we are not a puppy mill and we value our Dogos very highly in our household.

Breeding Rights

• Pups sold with breeding rights, offer the owner the opportunity to register future offspring with KUSA

• This will be be indicated on the registration certificate

• A prospective owner may indicate well in advance of the birth of a litter, that he/she wants to have "Pick of the Litter". What this means

  • the prospective owner gets the first choice of the pup they would like to have​

  • the prospective owner may indicate whether it be male or female, so there may be both a "Pick of Litter Female" AND a "Pick of Litter Male", unless the sex is not specified.

  • should a pup be chosen in this way, but the personality of the pup and the prospective owner are clearly NOT a match, this chose may be overridden by ShaTranj in the best interest of both pup and owner

  • Although "Pick of Litter" usually indicate the most ideal specimen in terms of breed standard, a prospective owner may also specify that he/she wants some other trait (for example a pirate or a panda), which might not be the ideal according to breed standard, but would still be the first choice.

• Pups with breeding rights or pups selected as "Pick of Litter" will also come at a premium.

• Pups may be registered and sold without breeding rights. These dogs may still be used to breed, but on the registration certificate "No Breeding Rights" will be specified and offspring will not be able to become KUSA registered.

• Pups with defects (deafness, to much colouration etc), will be neutered and become available as pet quality animals.
